L Word Goes Reality

The “reel” dramaz, that is. After wrapping a sixth season of hit Showtime series The L Word, the network has opted to proceed with casting The Real L Word: Los Angeles, a new effort to chronicle the daily lives of six Los Angeles-based lesbians.

“Even though we concluded our sixth season of The L Word on Showtime this past March, I believe we are not nearly finished telling our L Word stories,” series creator Ilene Chaiken says in a Variety article. The story describes it as “a lesbian answer to Bravo’s Real Housewives franchise.”

For her money part, The Real L Word co-producer Jane Lipsitz promises the show will touch on an area that “has yet to be explored in reality television.”
